Emily Irene VanCamp was originally looking to become a dancer. However, after going to her sister Katie's set in the Ladies Room, she became more inclined to act. While taking classes in acting as well, she also got part-time roles in Canadian television programs. She was a part of in a variety of shows, including in Are You Scared Of the Dark? Radio Active, Dice. VanCamp experienced career breakthrough following his appearance as regular Sam Dolan on the WB horror-themed mystery series Glory Days. It was cancelled after nine episodes, despite glowing reviews and poor ratings. Despite her May 12th 1986 birth date her actress was offered the role of Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. The role resulted in her being nominated as a Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
